Redesign

Was about time, wasn’t it?

I wanted a simpler, more minimalistic (and wider!) theme for a while now. The other one was too restrictive. I had designed it when I had absolutely no content, and few changes were made to it afterwards.

So, today that I was too sad and furious to do anything productive, I spent a few hours redesigning the blog (creative venting…). Please note that it’s just a few hours’ work (with no mockup), so it’s bound to be a bit rough around the edges. I will refine it more as time goes by.

(and just like the previous one, it’s best viewed in more CSS3-supporting browsers, like Firefox, Chrome or Safari. If we can’t use the latest bells n’ whistles in our personal blogs, where can we? ;) )

Here’s a screenshot from the previous theme:

R.I.P. my first wordpress theme.

PS: Yeah, I know I haven’t posted in a while. I have started lots of posts, but didn’t finish any. I hope I’ll have something complete to post soon.

JSYK, your old design played a big part in my subscribing! I saw it and said, “Hey, here’s someone who knows what she’s doing!” The new one’s cool too—minimalism is definitely in (as are visually large websites), but it’s a good practice anyway. Although, I’m personally not a fan of plain-white backgrounds; maybe another color, and/or pattern? I’m actually in the process of redesigning my site as well. In fact, I’m supposed to be doing that right now… bye!

    Thank you all!

@Hugh: You really liked it? Wow, it was something I had put together very quickly just because I didn’t want to use a pre-made theme. Ok, the new one was also one night’s work, but I’ve been thinking about it for a while.

Ah, we disagree on white, I really love white backgrounds. However, I guess I could provide an alternative (or even lots of them, at different lightness levels. Hm). Magenta and the light green I picked would probably look ok on a dark bg as well so it doesn’t look very time consuming. :)
