The IE anti-aliasing issues are frustrating, but if you don't mind a little self-promotion, I'd like to share some articles I have written on how to fix this with <a href="http://www.useragentman.com/blog/2011/04/14/css3-text-shadow-can-it-be-done-in-ie-without-javascript/" rel="nofollow">unblurred</a> and <a href="http://www.useragentman.com/blog/2011/04/23/css-blurred-text-shadow-in-ie-part-i/" rel="nofollow">blurred text-shadows</a>.  I also have a <a href="http://www.useragentman.com/blog/2011/06/29/full-css3-text-shadows-even-in-ie/" rel="nofollow">JavaScript</a> solution that will allow full CSS3-like text-shadows.  Of course, the IE blurring algorithm is slightly different (it looks similar to your Chrome screenshot).
